Donald M. Jones, 101, of Bangor, PA passed away Monday, September 18th, at Slate Belt Health and Rehab. Center.

Donald was born in Bangor, PA on September 5, 1922, a son of the late Richard W. and Florence (Mansfield) Jones.

He was the widower of Ruby M. (Anglemyer) Jones who passed away in 2004.

Donald was a 1940 graduate of Bangor High School and attended Churchman's Business College. He was employed as a Supervisor of Dying and Finishing at the former Blue Ridge Winkler Textiles in Bangor, PA, for 30 years until retiring.

Donald served three years in the US Army during WWII with the Military Police in the European Theater and with the 780th Amphibious Tank Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor, PA, where he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal Organization, Chairman of the World Hunger Program at Church, a charter member of the "Loaves and Fish" Food Bank, served on the Lutheran Church Council, and was chairman of the Lutheran Church Board of Trustees and the Lutheran Cemetery Board.

Donald served on the 3rd Ward Election Board, was the finance Chairman of the Bangor Public Library, member of the St. David's Welsh Society and Welsh Chorus. He was a charter member and Director of Slate Belt Homefront Inc., a member and past President of the Bangor Area High School Alumni Association., and served on the Board of Directors at Slate Belt Nursing and Rehab. Center, and was a member of the Slate Belt Heritage Center where he was an active participant in the Heritage Day Programs.

Donald was a Life Member and Past Commander of the Bangor VFW, a member and Past Commander of the Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750 in Roseto, a Past President of the Joint Veteran's Council of the Forks of Delaware, a member of AMVETS Post 17 in Easton, a member of the Marine Corp League of Bethlehem, a member of the "Legion of Honor" of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Valley Forge, PA, and a member of the Bangor Memorial and Veteran's Day Committee.

Donald is survived by two nieces Joan Uliana and Linda Milligan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Verna LaBar, and a brother, William R. Jones.
